COINS Grand Challenge for Undergraduates and Enterpreneurs

The Construction Industry Solutions(COINS) Grand Challenge is a global competition that seeks to uncover students, entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders with ideas that are capable of improving the built environment.

COINS is currently accepting applications for this program.
The challenge is divided into two categories: the Undergraduate Competition and the Open Competition.

Generally, COINS is looking for someone who understands which new and emerging technologies-- Solar Power, Off-Site Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, Robots, Cloud Computing; embracing the digital revolution; increasing collaboration and mobility; BIM; 3D Modelling and improving the use of big data and analytics.

These are likely to have the greatest impact upon business and who can also articulate how those technologies can be applied to best effect within the construction industry.

Undergraduate Competition
COINS is on a mission to find students from all over the world who are passionate about working within the construction industry.
Students studying engineering, architecture, computer science, sustainable development, construction management, business, or ANYTHING that can be applied to the built environment? Then you are very much fit to enter for this challenge.

Open Competition
Do you have a feasible idea or innovation that uses a new or emerging technology to absolutely reduce costs, increase efficiency or improve sustainability, quality, or compliance during construction or throughout the built life cycle? If ''Yes'', then you should enter to win cash prizes, research and development funding, investment in your business, and exposure to influential leaders.   • Runner-up of Undergraduate Competition-- $2,000
  • COINS Software Innovation Prize Winner --3-Months of Internship with COINS research and development
  • COINS Software Innovation Prize Runner-up -- 2-week work experience placement with COINS research and development
  • COINS Investment Prize-- an investment of up to $150,000 (USD) in their business or to set up a business in order to further their idea..

  1. Applicants must be able to present a case for how their idea or innovation will address the competition topic
  2. Ideas must be able to be applied to the construction industry
  3. The innovation or idea must meet all the requirements for submission covered in the terms and condition
  4. Applications must be able to speak English fluently
  5. Applicants must be 18 years or older on November 1, 2019
  6. Applicants must be able to attend the Grand Finale in Philadelphia, USA on Monday, September 21, 2020
  7. Applicants must be able to get legal entry to the United States for judging if selected as a finalist
